8 Spring Date Ideas That Will Get You Out and About

After months of movie nights in and bundling up to go to dinner with your partner, it is time to refresh date night, and with the weather warming up, spring date ideas are practically endless. Outdoor activities are always first on my mind when planning a date night this time of year, mostly because sipping a cocktail on a patio is one of my all-time favorite things to do, but also because activities like taking a bike ride or planning a picnic with my partner are things we haven’t had the chance to enjoy together in what feels like forever.

there’s a new shoe on the scene that’s ready to live on our feet all spring long

Spring offers so many romantic, easygoing, and fun ways to spend time together, so take advantage of the season’s warmer weather and longer nights by planning one (or more!) of these spring date night ideas.

1. Play pickleball

A little bit of friendly competition and endorphins? Yes, please. There’s a reason pickleball has become one of the most popular sports in the last few years, and it’s because it’s just downright fun. You can play with two people which makes it perfect for a date night when you want to do something active and playful all at once. Challenge each other to a few games and whoever loses buys ice cream after!

2. Visit a winery

Going to a winery is always a good idea IMO, but they are especially enjoyable in the spring when you can get away with sitting out on the patio and watching the sunset with a glass of wine in hand. Head out to a local winery or take a trip to one close by, try different seasonal wines, and enjoy a romantic evening together. This is the perfect time to wear one of the dresses in your spring capsule wardrobe!

3. Pack a picnic

A picnic is a cliche spring date night idea, but for a good reason. It is one of the easiest and most romantic activities you can do with your partner. All you have to do is pack a bag with snacks (charcuterie boards are great for this since you won’t have to worry about silverware), drinks (wine, please!), music, a game, and a blanket. Find a nice place in a nearby park or even set up your picnic in your backyard. This date night is so simple and inexpensive, you’ll come back to it time and time again.

4. Go to a baseball game

Baseball is back, and even if you don’t care to watch the game itself, going to a game is one of the best spring date ideas to plan with your partner. It’s easygoing yet full of energy, and there is actually a lot to do at a baseball game besides watching the game the entire time. Walk around to explore the stadium, pop into some of the shops, grab drinks and food, and, of course, catch a couple of innings.

5. Take a bike ride

Dust off your bikes and head out around town! Whether you decide to venture out onto a trail, take a casual evening stroll around your neighborhood, or bike to a local restaurant or brewery, going on a bike ride is a warm-weather activity that you can do together all season. Plus, it’s a nice way to switch things up from all of the driving you did in the winter.

6. Head to the driving range

You don’t need to be a pro-golfer to have fun at the driving range. Get a bucket of golf balls to share and don’t worry if you have a terrible swing (same). You and your partner can practice together, enjoy a warm spring evening, and maybe even grab dinner or drinks together afterward. Not into the driving range idea? Go play mini golf instead!

7. Enjoy dinner on the patio

Ah, patio season. Don’t you love it? As soon as the temperature goes above 55, so many of us are eager to start dining outside again. With that said, make sure to make reservations if you plan to go out because it can get busy this time of year. But if you choose to eat at home instead and have the option to eat outside, we recommend breaking out your patio furniture, cooking seasonal foods, and acting as if it’s your own mini dinner party.

8. Meet for rooftop drinks

If meeting up for drinks is easier to fit in after work than dinner plans, choose a place that has a rooftop option. Order a springtime cocktail (or mocktail) and enjoy good conversation paired with a beautiful view and a nice, warm, spring breeze. If you can catch the sunset together from the rooftop, that’s even better.
