Celebrate Mother’s Day at Home

Amidst quarantine stay-at-home orders, many events have been postponed or canceled. Considering these circumstances, Mom could use a great Mother’s Day this year, but how do you celebrate it without the ability to leave the house? Luckily, you don’t need a fancy brunch or a luxurious trip to the spa to show your mom how much you care. With some creativity and preparation, you can give your mom a great day at home, and it just might be the most meaningful Mother’s Day she’s had yet. Keep reading for ways you can spoil your Mom at home this Mother’s Day.

  1. Breakfast in Bed – There’s nothing better than waking up to the smell of bacon. Start Mother’s Day off on the right foot with a delicious home-cooked breakfast in bed for Mom. We recommend serving an omelette with all your mom’s favorite add-ins, a side of bacon, a side of fresh fruit, and of course- a mimosa! Not a great cook? No problem! Many restaurants are offering carry-out and delivery, so if your mom has a favorite local spot for breakfast, you can have it prepared and ready for her when she wakes up.
    .
  2. Take an Online Cooking Class – With a virtual cooking class, you can have the whole family join in to help with dinner on Mother’s Day. Or you could make a fun activity out of it by taking the class with mom. She’s sure to love either option!
    .
  3. Give her a Manicure – Mom probably hasn’t had her nails done for over a month now considering all spas are closed. You can bet she’s itching to have her nails freshly manicured. Try your hand at this trade by purchasing her favorite color polish and necessary supplies at your local convenience store. It might not be a quality manicure, but it will be quality R&R- exactly what Mom needs!
    .
  4. Have a Picnic in your Backyard – If the weather allows, spruce up lunchtime by having a picnic in the backyard. Just grab a blanket, and a basket stocked with plates, silverware, napkins, and food of your choice. Mom will love the sunshine and sentiment.
    .
  5. Cheers with a Wine Tasting – Wine is always a good idea, especially on your Mom’s special day. Turn one of her favorite drinks into a fun activity by tasting red and whites from all over the world and pairing them with different cheeses and snacks, just as if you were taking her to a real vineyard!
    .
  6. Clean the House – This might sound like a lame way to spend the day, but we promise Mom will LOVE it. Simple acts such as doing her chores and errands will go a long way.
