England is one of the most significant countries to play the beautiful game of football. They have been part of the tremendous elite footballing countries for a long time now. Each generation had a class about them, from Bobby Charlton to David Beckham to Wayne Rooney to now, Harry Kane. Each England side had a class about them, they were destined to win silverware, but it wasn’t meant to be. Euros are less than a month away, and we would weigh out on how England can lineup. We would be predicting the lineup according to the 4-2-3-1 formation often used by Gareth Southgate, head coach of the England team
1) Goalkeeper: Dean Henderson
Dean Henderson has been a revelation not only for Manchester United but for his country as well. He has risen to the ranks of English football. He was a crucial part of Sheffield United’s success last season and is now finally the number one goalkeeper at Manchester United. He has overtaken a goalkeeping legend like David De Gea, which is a massive thing to do so. His confidence is sky-high, and he would be gunning for this role in the England side.
2) Right-back: Trent Alexander Arnold
Trent Alexander Arnold has excelled under Gareth Southgate and Jurgen Klopp. His offensive abilities as a right-back are unmatched, and the sheer pace he uses to catch up on counter-attacks is a quality needed in their attack and defense. England is overloaded in the right-back spot, having more than 10-12 contenders fighting for a place at the Euros. The performances shelled out by Arnold have made him a top contender for this role.
3) Centre-Back: Harry Maguire
Harry Maguire is arguably the best English center-back out there. He is the current Manchester United captain and has led the defensive line for 72 consecutive Premier League games. He shapes this England defense pretty well, and his heading ability will be something to watch out for. He has already shown instances of what he can do with his headers in the 2018 world cup, scoring some vital goals for his country. England would be hoping he recovers from his injury sooner rather than later.
4) Centre-Back: John Stones
John Stones has had a recovery of a season with Manchester City. His earlier seasons with them didn’t prove that good for the team or him. This season he showed his class as he helped his team to more than 15 clean sheets. Along with Maguire, he can form a solid CB pairing that can lead his side to victory. His heading abilities during corners are similar to Maguire, making them a great defensive pairing.
5) Left Back: Luke Shaw
Like Stones, Luke Shaw has had a revival to his United and England career and his footballing career in general. He was the third choice left-back under Mourinho but has sprung into life under his new manager under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. His passing with another Englishman, Marcus Rashford, has been truly unique, and both of them have lit up the left-hand side of United. Shaw will be a crucial part of Southgate’s plans this year.
6) Centre Defensive Midfielder: Declan Rice
Declan Rice is part of the upcoming generation of English football and has played well for west ham and England. The West ham captain is the main reason they are flying so high in the premier league table, along with the west ham Center-backs, he has formed a solid trio, and his attacking skills as a CDM make him such a versatile player.
7) Centre Defensive Midfielder: Jordan Henderson
The most experienced player in this starting lineup is Jordan Henderson. He is the most versatile player also not only in the team as well as in the premier league. He can play different positions such as CDM, CB, CM, and CAM and has proved his worth in all these positions. In a very young lineup, his experience will come into the fray, and England will be looking to bank upon him both defensively and offensively.
8) Left Midfielder: Marcus Rashford
MBE Marcus Rashford has already proved his worth to the England people by doing what the British government couldn’t during the lockdown. His next task would be to win England the Euros by continuing his blistering run of form. He has matured and improved on his game over the years. He has developed new skills along the way, which can indeed be a problem for the defenders and the pace he has. He can play as a striker as well as and when required. His play with Luke Shaw on the left-wing can be clinical in scoring, assisting a lot of goals
9) Centre Attacking Midfielder: Mason Mount
Mason Mount is another young English bloke who has shown his worth to Chelsea and Gareth Southgate. His hold-up play, as well as his pace on the counter-attacks, make him a lethal CAM. He can play on the left-wing as well as the right-wing, giving his manager another advantage. His free-kick ability is the best in the current England set-up, and he would be hoping to get that duty in the squad. All in all, he is the one who can rack up the assists for his team in the Euros.
10) Right Midfielder: Jadon Sancho
The only young English player not playing in the premier league, Jadon Sancho, is killing oppositions in the German company Bundesliga. He has racked up more than 20 goal contributions in the Bundesliga for the third year running. He is still young and has a bright future ahead. Along with Rashford, he would be hoping to cut inside the defenses and score the goals into the top corner. He also is a versatile player and can play at LW and CAM as well.
11) Striker: Harry Kane
As usual, we were saving the best of the pack for the last. Harry Kane is the only English player in this year’s premier league to have more than 35 goal contributions as well as he is the top scorer of the Premier League by a small margin. He has added assists to his game, making him a complete striker of the ball. He is known for his pace, shooting, heading ability, and England fans hoping that their captain can score goal after goal for his country.
This is what we think the England Football team can lineup with. A lot can change in a month, but if this XI plays together, they can be serious contenders for the Euros. The other 15 members who we think can make the 26-man England squad are: –
- Nick Pope
- Jordan Pickford
- Tyron Mings
- Ben Chilwell
- Aaron Wan-Bissaka
- Eric Dier
- Kyle Walker
- Raheem Sterling
- Phil Foden
- Kalvin Phillips
- Jude Bellingham
- Jesse Lingard
- Jack Grealish
- Ollie Watkins
- Mason Greenwood
