Frugal Saturday 5/20/23!

We had a wonderful time at the zoo on Mother's day with the family.  The Mother's were free and afterwards we had a picnic. I love the Potter park zoo in Lansing, it's just the right size.

We spend Thursday through Saturdays going to garage sales in the morning.  The best thing so far this weekend was a booklet of car washes that somehow was mixed in with the things we bought.  So, we got 5 car washes for free ($50 value)!  Who knows where it came from, we go to so many but it will help a lot!

Here is my small strawberry bed and that's rhubarb in the tower.  I don't like rhubarb.  I'm also growing asparagus that I don't like.  This goes against the cardinal rule of only grow what you like.  My neighbor likes rhubarb and my daughter loves asparagus. I'm going to try and love them both  LOL.

It finally rained yesterday.  I'm not sure how long it's been but we needed the rain for the soil and for our bodies. As long as it's pretty we just keep right on going like no tomorrow.   We do get a lot done that's for sure.  We will put in the garden next week.  There was a frost this past week but I think we will be in the clear this coming week as it warms up more.  As near or at Memorial Day is best for planting the tender plants in our part of Michigan.  You never know when the weather will turn on you!

I can not believe the price of plants and I hope everyone of mine that I started does well.  We went to the nursery and a flat of annual flowers is around $17.00.   I also saw vegetables for $2.00 a piece in a small pots.   We would not have a big garden if I had to buy those plants.

I just dug some Marigold starts out of my little greenhouses to plant in the flower garden.  I think I will also grow some flowers from seed too.  I have some perennials that will help with the pop till they the annuals flower.

How's everything at your house?
