Weekly Wrap-Up {January Favorites}

It was a fun (and emotional) week in our house – Jackson turned 8! I simultaneously cannot believe he’s already eight years old and also can’t fathom a time when he wasn’t an integral part of our lives. We celebrated him on Monday with a trip to our favorite sushi restaurant (he only requested it because they have a chocolate molten lava cake he loves and he could eat chicken lo mein all day every day). He spent the rest of the week building his new LEGO sets, playing some new Switch games, and talking non-stop about how excited he is for his space-themed birthday party this weekend. Speaking of – we (heartbreakingly) had to cancel the official party because...

Teddy Bear Baby Shower

I know this isn’t the typical home decor post you normally see here, but I wanted to document this special day and thought you might enjoy seeing it too. We just had the cutest teddy bear themed baby shower for my little sister, and I’m going to be an aunt in about a month from now! We’ve waited and prayed for this sweet little girl for so long, and I can’t wait to meet her and watch my sister become a momma. I was in charge of all the decorating and created some fun teddy bear centerpieces, a few activities in lieu of traditional baby shower games, and a huge photo backdrop complete with a diy balloon garland. One thing...

Working out what all the things shown below were actually designed for is a massive challenge. Even if kitchen is your natural habitat. Are you ready to take the test? See a bunch of some really weird kitchen utensils #1 ‘An old iron item, found in the pile of old kitchen stuff. What is this?’ sggkloosemo/reddit The answer: This is a nutcracker. You use the V-shaped piece to crack hazelnuts or walnuts and then use the tweezers to take out the seeds. #2 ‘What’s wrong with the sink?’ gkr974/reddit The answer: nothing. This is the piece you cut out of the top when you fix it to the sink. You can keep it if you think it might come in...

DIY Wooden Drawer Organizer

One of my favorite things about our kitchen is that our island has large drawers. They’re 25″ on the interior, which means we can store a lot in them. The downside? It’s hard to contain chaos with that much space! One of my missions this year is to get a lot of little spaces in our home organized, and this week, I’m focusing on our silverware drawer. I built a really simple DIY wooden drawer organizer and it’s making me really (really!) happy to see things so organized! This post is sponsored by DAP. Our old silverware drawer organizer was (quite literally) falling apart, despite being only a couple of years old. I’m not sure if we’re just really hard...
