Winter Harvest

Hello, friends.  I hope you had a most enjoyable holiday.    Last week, we harvested cabbage for colcannon, lettuce and chard, and thyme for tea.  I finished reading Love & Saffron, which I really enjoyed, and requested three more books from the library.  A pot of small sweet potatoes was simmered on the woodstove for the pups and chickens.  Another tromboncino was grated for the chicken's mash, which they get every day that I'm at home.  My two sewing machines were moved into the new sewing room, and J bought a small wall propane heater, as our wood heat doesn't reach there very well.  I've started looking for a piece of furniture for fabric storage.  At a dental cleaning, I...

Air Fryer Recipes: Step-by-Step Instructions

I have seen so many air fryer recipes on the internet that I decided I needed to know if this appliance was worth getting or not. Do I really want another kitchen appliance sitting on the counter? Remember, I have a very small home and I don’t have a lot of counter space. Plus, most of the air fryers looked too tall to sit on the counter and not touch my upper cabinets. I decided to ask my Food Storage Mom’s Facebook followers if they had one and if they felt it was worth buying. I had read that an air fryer is basically a convection oven in a very small appliance. Traeger Caramel Rolls

Simple ingredients, and the end result is very much worth the effort of making these at home! Traeger Caramel Rolls Homemade caramel rolls are one of those treats that I usually only whip out once a year, at best. In fact, I haven’t made a pan of these for several years until this week, and I’d almost forgotten how much better they are when you make them at home and can eat one fresh out of the oven (or in this case, the Traeger!) This would be the perfect treat for Christmas morning. Don’t let the process intimidate you....

A stylish, boho haven with a dreamy, castaway vibe: The Conrad Tulum

There’s always been something mystical about Tulum, Mexico. Famed for its clifftop Mayan ruins, sacred cenotes and Instagrammable coastline, it has exploded in popularity to become the quintessential eco-chic retreat. Located 81 miles south of Cancun International Airport (CUN), Tulum’s hotel scene is a world apart from the glamorous gated resorts that stud the Riviera Maya farther north. Surrounding Tulum Pueblo, clusters of solar-powered, palapa-style boutique hotels embrace the region’s back-to-nature minimalism and cater to wellness seekers, yogis and free-spirited travelers looking for a more offbeat Caribbean getaway. But until recently, it’s been slim pickings for points travelers.  Amid a flurry of top-tier additions to the Hilton portfolio in Mexico, the highly anticipated Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya debuted in January...

My Big List of Goals I’m Going to Accomplish in 2022 Week 51 of 52

Here’s my big list of things I want to accomplish in 2022: Remodel The Kitchen  The HH is still having a blast playing with his espresso machine and testing out his lattes on friends and neighbors. As part of his Christmas gift to himself he bought a bunch of different bean varieties and is looking forward to testing them out this winter.  If only I liked coffee, I could share in his enthusiasm. Oh well. At least I’m doing my part of keeping him busy with steaming milk for my teas.   Sell Enough Rugs to Buy an AGA Stove DONE!!! I hit my goal of selling enough of my 2022 hooked rugs and pillows in my Etsy shop to...
